Welcome to Tilly Cottage!

Our stone terraced property, "Tilly Cottage", offers comfortable, well-equipped & homely pet-friendly 2 bedroom accommodation for up to 4 people (2 double beds) Ideal for couples, families,  and temporary workers to the area. 
Tucked away on a quiet terrace in the village of Evenwood, which is situated midway between Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland (approx 15 minutes drive to both) it offers a great value break.

Explore the Durham Dales, Hamsterley Forest, Raby Castle, Bowes Museum, High Force, Locomotion Railway Museum, Beamish & Durham City, all within easy reach.

In the Summer months you can visit Kynren at Bishop Auckland Castle, an amazing and immersive live show, highlighting the key moments in history.

We accept up to 2  well behaved dogs, but please note pets are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture.  We do not charge extra for dogs but we would ask all dog owners to ensure our place is thoroughly cleaned upon departure and any dog waste is cleared up.


Parking is next to The Green, about a minute's walk from the property. The lane leading from 'The Green' to Tilly Cottage is 'unadopted' and is uneven. (There is no parking available at the property itself)

We are Philippa and Allan Lyall.  We bought 'Tilly Cottage' as a holiday base in 2021, and have made it a comfortable 'home-from-home'.

We LOVE this area of County Durham.  Its has a beautiful countryside all around, friendly people and a wealth of things to do and explore.

We visit as often as we can ourselves and  hope you enjoy your stay as much as we always do.
